When I’m worried about writing something that’s already been written about, I ask myself a few questions:
Will my piece offer anything new that these pieces haven’t? If yes, then it’s worth it. If not, how can I amplify and support these existing pieces and writers?
Do these posts cover something my post does not? How can I link to these as supplemental information for my readers?
3 - What does the landscape of writers in this subject look like? What are their backgrounds?Could I make someone feel seen by writing and taking up space here? This one is most important and motivating to me.
4 - Will I be able to provide my content in more accessible ways in formats that rarely exist here?
5 - Will I enjoy and learn from writing? It’s hard for me to admit sometimes but I write for me—I write to motivate me to research, to challenge me to make things simpler.
